The Training Process

Let’s face it: personal training is a BIG commitment.

It’s an investment in yourself.  Your time and your effort and your money.

It’s also a personal relationship with your coach (whose purpose is to help you avoid pitfalls and dead ends and wasted time, effort, and money along the way).  You’re sure to have questions and concerns.

We are not just another “boot camp” looking to sign up as many people as possible and expecting you to wash out soon after.  And we’re NOT crossfit.  Intensity matters, at the right time, in the right way. â€‹â€‹

Before meeting in person, you will have an initial phone consult with your coach.

From the very beginning, we’ll establish a working rapport that emphasizes getting to the bottom of what you really want to get out of the process and why.

Of course, we’ll also take into account some basic stats like age, height, weight, training history, previous injuries, limitations, and preferences.

Your coach will project an initial training trajectory and make a recommendation for how to begin.

If the coach, schedule, and budget all sounds like a good training fit for you and you sound ready to train with us, then we’ll schedule an in-person consult at our gym.

We are not here to waste your resources: time, energy, OR money.

And guess what?  Personal training is personal for us too!  We want our clients to succeed!  And we want to have a healthy, fun working relationship while we train you! So, we need to make sure that you’re actually ready, willing, and able to succeed before we take you on.

At the in-person consult,

your coach will greet you and you’ll briefly get acquainted and confirm or clarify anything that came up in the previous conversation.  Then your coach will take you through a series of movement screens: your coach is making sure that the plan that is already penciled in for you makes sense with how you’re actually moving.  If the training fit still makes sense then you’ll complete the agreement and set a date for you first official session!

I strongly recommend Peak Conditioning and Fitness. Josh Spencer is a knowledgeable and motivational trainer. I was intimidated and apprehensive about starting with a personal trainer as I had limited experience with weight training. I’m so grateful I made the decision to call PCF. Josh was instrumental in easing my anxiety by building up my confidence. He coached with a perfect balance of challenging me and also focusing on my level by making sure I had the correct form. He not only explained how to perform each movement, but also why.

Josh went the extra mile by assigning homework for me to work on between training sessions. He provided helpful videos of him performing each exercise. I had the option of going into the gym or doing them from home...
